The Deploybell menu: v1be.online building, lino, palpal-web and rehears ready

2026 · macOS menu bar app, made in an hour

Deploybell

A chime when a Vercel deploy succeeds, another when it fails, so I stop refreshing the page.

More

I work on several projects at once, most of them on Vercel, and every push meant 30 seconds to a minute of checking back.

Deploybell polls the deployments every 5 seconds with a Vercel token and plays one sound on success, another on failure. The menu bar shows each project’s latest status. It is native to macOS, and open source.

Rehearsal mode: a line from Catherine in Proof, with play and skip controls

2026 · Web app, made in an afternoon; no longer online

Rehears

Rehearse your lines alone: it reads every other part aloud, and stops when it’s your turn.

More

In a drama class at CMU, learning lines was my nightmare: alone there is no one to read the other parts, and scanned scripts barely give up their text.

Gemini turns a PDF into characters, lines and actions, and MiniMax reads each role in its own voice. Pick your role and a range of lines, then choose how much help you get: the whole line, its first word, its length, or nothing. To keep a small, cheap model reliable, it leaves splitting scenes to you.

It became a teaching resource for the class.

RotFix

When I only skim ChatGPT’s answers, it stops me until I write down what I understood.

More

That summer, at an HCI lab, I learned electronics from ChatGPT, and noticed its long answers slipping past me without a trace.

RotFix counts the turns of a chat. At the limit it locks the box until you write a reflection. An LLM grades it pass, thoughtful or fail, and a thoughtful one comes back with a follow-up question.

A Walk with Shooting Star

A walk with Nik’s golden retriever, kept in VR: he remembers what you tell him, and lives through your seasons.

More

Shooting Star was Nik’s puppy, and we made the game in his memory. You can walk with him, talk to him and play fetch. His day and his seasons follow the real world, and an LLM persona remembers your moods and stories.

Later that summer I built a backend to test which parts of the game state to give the model, so the conversation feels true to the place you are in.

A see-through boba pearl with eyes, among sugar cubes

Boba Bubble Trouble

You are a boba pearl, squishing your way out of a cup of milk tea before someone chews you.

More

A 3D platformer where pearls race each other out of the cup, through fruit and ice, with squishy, jelly-like controls. Five of us made it in Unity in 48 hours.

I worked on the concept, 3D models, levels, sound, development and testing.
